The Summer Of My Content...

...Rather than The Winter Of My Discontent. I'm so stink-happy with the title of this post. I don't have a ton to say about it - and it doesn't really need a load of verbosity anyway; it would end up being a bullseye on exactly that which I've spent years struggling to veer away from. What I'm trying to say is, following a long period which was the Winter Of My Discontent -- where I dove headlong, once and for ALL, into the bunghole of my past -- I think I may be experiencing, oh lord and behold, the Summer Of My Content. Proof:

- My use of F-bombs has been more towards expletives of joy, rather than lack of it

- My recent flat tire was met with acceptance, glee even - because I didn't have to run errands and could then stay home and make Chocolate Mousse - if this is bad karma, BRING IT, RAIN IT

- I had a totally calorific vacation and did not completely lose my mind and make my usually Draconian ass run a marathon every day because of it; if this goddess-wannabe gains a pound or 2 on vacation, it shall be a pound of sass, goddessness, mensa-ness, or reclaimed brain cells

- There is a Chipotle opening 1/4 mile from my house. Here is a pause _____ for you to fully absorb this information. That's right. If a worthy sushi place opens nearby, I will NEVER leave my neighborhood AGAIN (okay, except for Ethiopian/Eritrean food)

- I'm sleeping. AT NIGHT. Like real people do...

- I've been tolerant, of mySELF - I mean, who IS this person already? Oh, that's right - she's the one with a rich therapist!

- And lastly? Brace your damn selves, it's a shocker. The other day a vendor came in the office and we chatted, then he left. He came back 5 minutes later with a fancy looking certificate and presented me with a "Nicest Person Of The Day Award" - I kid you NOT, dearests! Either I have been overtaken by the Body Snatchers, have been secretly injected with botox and have freeze-face, or I really AM having the Summer Of My Content. Of course, his face kind of fell when I screamed out "Fuckin'-A!!" after being presented with the award, but I am who I am, poor fella...

So, is it just me or is the Age of Aquarius ushering in a rather splendid summer for everyone? [Right now I'm picturing the very end of "40 Year Old Virgin" where Age of Aquarius is playing and all the men are dancing around like little fairy sprites, wearing flowing, skimpy pixie outfits while sporting profuse chest hair]

_______AND, NOW FOR SOME OVERDUE GRATITUDE_______

Some folks have given me some awards and I wanted to say THANK YOU so very much. The fact that you like me should definitely make you question yourselves, deeply. And seek therapy, quickly. Nonetheless, I thank you. I love writing this website, so the fact that others like it? Slays me. And I mean that, to no end. And I'm grateful, to no end, that you come here.

Shaye from Smarter Than Pancakes gave me the Blogging With A Purpose award, thanks Shaye!

Nicole from This Damn House gave me the Arte y Pico award, thanks Nicole!

Clumbsy Cookie gave me the Yum Yum Blog Award, thanks CC!

You know, I think you may be right. I have noticed lately that I, too, have become a much more pleasant, mellow, and all around more amiable version of my usual self. Case in point - I feel like callnig and chatting with my mother-in-law. I mean, really, what the F is up with that?? Seriosuly, though, it has been a good couple of months, and I am happy for both of us! Enjoy it while it lasts!

Niceste person of the day award??????? Are people on drugs? Or is that possible that the man haven't talked with anybody else for decades? Just kidding Ann! You receive the nicest blogger of the day award anyday from me. Yes, yes, I'll start therapy soon!

Oddly, I too have been having a rather nice summer, overall. Peaceful and uneventful. Is it really the Age of Aquarius? If so, let's all dance like pixies with chest hair because it's about damn time.

Ann, you should have a whole room full of "Nicest Person of the Day Awards", for god's sake. Because you are one of the most beautiful people I know! And you're so damn funny! And you said, "Bwah!" and "4000%" about the bunny rabbit letter opener, which made me laugh. I'm so glad you're feeling well.

Ok Ann, you have inspired me to have a vacation where I don't freak out about calories and exercise, and just enjoy my family.

If we pass a Chipotle on the road, I am getting the biggest burrito they have. Without the salsa or jalapenos, of course, because I don't want to get salmonella.

Glad to hear that things have improved so dramatically for the summer. It's been a stressful summer, partly self-induced. But I'm getting to the point in my projects where I'm actually starting to look forward to working on them. And, things at work have picked up majorly in recent weeks so that has has helped improve my demeanor dramatically. (I'm not good with boredom.)

There were a few things I wanted to comment on, but then you left me with that scene from 40 Year Old Virgin and I'm filled with too many giggles. Cracks me up.

I wish at the end of this vacation I have only gained a pound or two because I feel like the whale that I watched yesterday! Too much food and too much sitting in a car!

I love contentment and I'm glad that you are getting a piece of that! I hope it lasts the rest of the year... and longer of course! ;)

i'm glad you've got so much going for you! hooray for the arrival of chipotle! here's the hypocritical statement of the week--try to moderate yourself. when it comes to chipotle, i know no moderation. :)

"Nicest Person of the Day Award", wow, you must've had a smashing day because I know how difficult it can be to be nice to vendors. Maybe, as I saw in your Twitters, you were having your planned "good ass day" too, who could resist giving an award? Thanks for the laughs and glad for your Summer of Content.

Okay, I'm cheering for you a little bit now!

(I'll keep the discontent warm for you until you need it again. I've got a handle on it this summer, but things are looking up...)

Thank you for the happy post - it was just the ticket on a sunny Sunday morning! I hope the rest of your summer is as content, and that the happy spreads into the fall.

Being a little less hard on ourselves often brings with it more moments of gratitude. And, then the Chipoltle gods shine down on you. Life is Good.

We had joy we had fun we had seasons in the sun....

If I were one to give out awards, I probably would think of you. Then again, I'm not one to give awards.

The PB Whisperer experiment starts tomorrow....

Wow. I linked here from Derfwad Manor, and what a day to visit!

I'm thrilled that after doing the hard work of delving into past stuff, you are experiencing contentedness in your life. What a blessing. :)

I loved the title of this post, as well. Great photo, too!
